The Government of Canada has decided to take measures to support its mining industry, stricken by the economic crisis, announced Lisa Raitt, Canadas Minister of Natural Resources, at the International Convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, in Toronto on 2 March 2009.
Mining is a mainstay of the Canadian economy and is vital to some 150 rural northern and Aboriginal communities across the country, said Raitt.
