Prince Mineral Holding Corp. of the USA has acquired Castle Colours Ltd, of Stoke-on-Trent, UK, to join its growing portfolio of pigment and additive producers. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Castle Colours was a pioneer in the use of synthetic manganese, as a pigment to replace natural grades supplied to the UK brick market. The company supplies barium carbonate, manganese, and iron oxide grades for a range of markets. Formed in 1991 as a family business, Castle Colours was a sister company to Castle Clay Sales, a supplier of clay to the brick and tile industries. The company expanded into brick stains with engobes, followed by a wide range of colorants and additives.
