China to buy more sulphur

China sulphur imports grow; consumption expected to reach 13m. tonnes in 2010

The sulphur market has increased dramatically in China, which imported 9.72m. tonnes in Q1-Q3 2009, up 46.8% from the same period of 2008, according to a report by Research and Markets.

 

“It is expected that the total consumption in 2010 will be about 13m. tonnes,” said the report, a 19.8% increase compared with 2007.

 

According to the statistics, China consumed 10.85m. tonnes of sulphur in 2007, up from about 10m. tonnes in 2006, while its output was only 1.2m. tonnes. However, being affected by...
