Goods throughput at European hubs plummeted in '09 but Rotterdam optimistic

Throughput at Europe’s two largest logistic hubs fell significantly in 2009 as the slowdown in the global economy caused a slump in shipping activity.

 

The Port of Rotterdam reported a 8.5% decrease in total goods throughput to 385m. tonnes, with dry bulk handling at the Dutch port down 29% to 67m.
