Prices for non-metallurgical alumina in the USA are holding up at levels seen last year despite the well reported surge in metallurgical alumina prices, industry sources told IM.
Sales of commodity grades of non-met grade alumina produced at Bayer alumina plants are sold on an annual or semi-annual basis and contracts for 2010 were settled as late as December.
It is understood that for the most part, these contracted prices remain very much in line with levels seen in 2009.
