The chemicals segment of Solvay SA, which produces soda ash and fluorochemicals, more than doubled profits in Q4 2009 due to cost control measures and reduced energy costs, the Belgian group said.
The business reported recurring operating profits (REBIT) of €68m. ($92m.) compared with €31m. in the same period a year earlier.
