Chilean mining giant SQM SA is suspending operations at two of its facilities, one in Argentina and the other in Chile.
The first, El Toco, in Chile makes sodium nitrate, while the Pampa Blanca facility in Argentina produces iodine.
As a result, total iodine production in 2010 will be approximately 20% lower than 2009, and will probably be a similar figure...
