Glass consumption helps spur soda ash demand as prices in China rise

Prices for soda ash from China, the world’s largest market, have risen further in the past month as producers continue to battle rising input costs and seek to improve profit margins. 

The rises were helped improving in demand from the domestic glass making industry which has be spurred by domestic construction programmes.

Latest prices for Chinese synthetic soda ash (FOB Chinese ports) have been quoted at $200 to $210/tonne, up from a previously published price of $175-190/tonne.
