Spanish iron oxide demand defies domestic trend

Spain based iron oxide miner, Promindsa, has experienced a very different global recession than most miners in Spain. With the majority of the country’s companies relying on an upturn to a flailing construction industry, Promindsa is selling as much product as it can mine.

After a record year in 2009, the Zaragoza based company is experiencing an even better 2010. Last year it sold 15,000 tpa iron oxide from its underground Santa Rosa mine outside of Zaragoza. The company expects to sell at least 17,000 tpa this year but is aiming for more.
