The ban on oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico has appeared to reach breaking point as intense pressure grew from all sides of the industry on the Obama Administration.

Rig operators, drilling mud mineral suppliers, workers and senators were all united in their vocal opposition to the ban which is turning what is the worst environmental catastrophe in US history into an economic disaster for the area.

The south coast US states are heavily dependent on the drilling and fishing industries and while the oil spill has hampered fishing, locals feel the government...
