Chinese fused magnesia prices edge up on export restrictions

Ongoing restrictions in Chinese magnesia suppliers blamed for rising prices

Prices for some grades of Chinese produced fused magnesia, a key raw material in the production of refractories, have edged up since the start of the year due to ongoing export restriction, traders told IM.

 

“We are at these price levels due to export restrictions”, explained a trader referring to the Chinese government’s decision to cap all exports of magnesia to 1.23m.tonnes this year.
