Magnezit anti-pollution priority prompts shift in kiln type

Russian magnesia plant in $175m. environmental refit; switch to shaft kilns

Magnezit Group is to install a range of antipollution equipment as part of its 2011-2020 Strategic Programme of Environmental Safety for the Satka magnesia and refractory production facility in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

 

The total capital investment of the programme amounts to Russian roubles 5bn. ($175.4m.).

 

But a key component of the project is a switch from rotary to shaft and multiple hearth furnaces in Magnezit’s dead burned magnesia (DBM) production.
