Fused zirconia prices rise for Q2 on higher zircon sand prices

Prices for fused zirconia up by as much as 25% on sharp jump in raw material costs

Prices for South African produced fused zirconia, which is used in a range of high-end refractory, ceramic, and electronic applications, have jumped by as much as 25% for the second quarter as leading producers seek to offset a steep jump in the cost of zircon sand.

 

Latest prices for fused zirconia (CIF main European port, monoclinic refractory/abrasive grade) have been quoted at $6,900-7,200/tonne, up from $5,500-6,500/tonne in the first quarter, representing an increase...
