Prices for US-produced soda ash, a mineral used in the used in the manufacture of glass and a range of chemicals, are expected to remain stable across markets in North America, South America and Europe over the coming quarter, a representative from a leading US producer told IM.
Most US-produced soda ash sold into these regions is contracted on an annual fixed basis and there is limited spot business, but increases are expected during the course of the year.
We have not made any price decisions yet for 2011; an off-list increase (or increases) are likely later this year, said the source.
