Jordans Eagle Mining plans to produce high grade calcium carbonate by the beginning of 2012 at its Al-Damkhy deposit located in the western part of Jordan.
Hussein Hiyassat, managing director, revealed to IM that the company wants to build a calcium carbonate plant with a capacity of 200,000 tpa for the first stage before increasing to 500,000 tpa within three years.
Eagle Mining acquired the limestone deposit three years ago. It is in our strategic plan to start this year or maximum next year due to the increasing demand for calcium carbonate and the environment restriction on mining it in Europe, Hiyassat explained.
