Tanzania’s president Jakaya Kikwete is said to have sanctioned plans to mine soda ash at Lake Natron, in the Arusha region in the north of the country, saying environmental concerns there would be taken care of, according to local press.
“There is no need for further delay of the project, which will give the country’s economy a big boost,” Kikwete said quoted by Agence France Press (AFP).
