Weaker dollar may affect European bentonite, barytes prices

Bentonite and barytes prices could be affected by a weakening dollar, a major European distributer and processor said this week.

The weaker dollar could work to incentivise European imports, as both bentonite and barytes produced within Europe become less competitive when compared to import prices.

Currently, bentonite, cat-litter grade 1-5 mm, FOB main European port, is priced at €42-60/tonne. In comparison bentonite, cat-litter grade, ex-works Wyoming, USA is priced at between $42-$52/s. ton.
