Rio Tinto reports 12% decrease in TiO2 output in Q1 2011

Producer says furnace shutdown to blame, bauxite production also down, talc up

Rio Tinto Plc reported a 12% quarter-on-quarter fall in titanium dioxide (TiO2) feedstock output in Q1 2011.

In Q1 2011 a total of 329,000 tonnes was produced, the group said. This is level to the output for the same period last year. In Q4 2010 373,000 tonnes was produced.
