Producers of fused zirconia are coming under sustained pressure from the rising cost of their key input material, zircon sand, which is set to soar over the coming quarter.
A representative from a major fused zirconia producer based in South Africa told IM: “Zircon prices are expected to increase again for Q3 as zircon suppliers still expect prices to increase further due to the supply and demand [imbalance]”.
