MagMin 2011: Brazilian producer to cut out third party dead burned magnesia sourcing

Keywords: Magnesita, magnesia, magnesite, refractories, graphite, bauxite

Magnesita Refratarios in its aim to be 90% self-sufficient in refractory raw material requirements, is to eliminate all purchases of dead burned magnesia (DBM) “in the short term” through its planned capacity expansion.

The group’s vertical integration programme will also enable Magnesita to sell DBM and non-refractory graphite grades on to the world market.

At present, 70% of the Brazilian refractory and magnesia group’s raw materials are met by internal sourcing.
