Shipping rates ease on high Chinese iron ore stocks

BDI softens on growing stock levels, Indian monsoon and lower Japan coal demand

The cost of shipping dry bulk minerals fell this week on high Chinese iron ore levels, less Indian raw material trading because of the monsoon season, and less Japanese coal buying.

 

The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) was down to 1405 on 15 June 2011 compared with 1434 on the 8

June.  Capesize, Panamax, Supramax, and Handysize were at 1716, 1978, 1324, and 734 respectively.
