Globex Mining Enterprises Inc. has extended its industrial minerals development portfolio by acquiring two mica properties near Parent, Quebec.
The two deposits, called the Lamy and Siscoe Zones, are comprised mainly of phlogopite mica, a form of mica used in plastics, insulation and for fireproofing.
The Lamy deposit, hosting a zone 725 by 23 metres, is reported to be composed of 70- 90% mica with apatite, a source of phosphates for fertilisers as a secondary mineral.
The ground mica has a density varying from 1.84 to 2.09g/cm3, a magnesium-to-iron ratio of 2.78, and no fibrous material, according to the company.
