Barytes prices in China and India have increased this week as short supply puts pressure on the market, sources told IM.
“The Chinese are playing games. They are producing less and less so the prices are going up,” said a source.
“They are pushing [the prices] higher and higher. They have had severe floods, which is unusual [...] which means they are producing less,” he said.
Higher prices are being met with resistance from customers but prices are likely to continue increasing, he added.
