China sets H2 2011 mineral export quotas

Bidding are underway since China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced export quota volumes of certain industrial minerals for H2 2011; Rare earths quota “increased”

In early July 2011, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced the export quota volumes of certain industrial minerals for the second half of 2011 and companies started to bid for their quotas and licences.

Despite the continuing furore surrounding the dispute between China and the WTO over the country’s mineral export policies (see p.8-10), it was business as usual for those active in exporting Chinese bauxite, brucite, magnesia, silicon carbide, and talc to world markets.
