Galaxy ramps up spodumene production

Australia’s Galaxy Resources has increased production at its Mount Cattlin spodumeme mine in Western Australia by 25%

Australia’s Galaxy Resources has increased production at its Mount Cattlin spodumeme mine in Western Australia by 25%.

The mine, which will supply the company’s new lithium carbonate plant in Jiangsu, China, produced 8,916 wet tonnes of spodumene concentrate during July.

The plant, located near Ravensthorpe, is working at 79% of its capacity, and is expected to reach full output (138,000 tpa) by the end of the year. This will coincide with the opening of the 17,000 tpa Jiangsu plant.

Galaxy has shipped 40,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate to China and expects to ship a third consignment of 20,000 tonnes next month.
