Wyo-Ben to expand as bentonite demand soars

US bentonite producer, Wyo-Ben Inc., is looking to resume operations at its Meeteetse Draw mine in Wyoming following regulatory approval, the company confirmed to IM.

Based in Hot Springs county, Wyoming, the open pit mine was previously operational a number of years ago, and is being developed again to meet increased demand for the company’s bentonite.

“We’ve gone back in to do the archaeological work for the proposed mine, but we’ve got to get through the permitting process which will allow us to start mining,” a Wyo-Ben spokesperson told IM.

“We’re ready to go. We’ve been working on this for over a year and we’ve met all sort of roadblocks,” the spokesperson added.
