Chromite remains a strong component in refractory formulations despite constrained supply sources and a lagging market share in cement and glass refractory sectors.

Neil McEwan, group technical and business development manager for South Africa’s Vereeniging Refractories (Pty) Ltd, outlined key refractory applications for chromite during IM’s Chromite Conference in Johannesburg.
