Chinese smelter demand could tighten non-metallurgical supply in coming years

Chinese bauxite demand will continue to rise until 2016, which could further tighten the supply situation in the non-met bauxite industry globally, consultancy CRU Strategies, told IM.

Speaking at the 6th Global Mining Finance Autumn Conference in London this week, Katherine Wright, consultant at CRU Strategies outlined how China will become increasingly reliant on bauxite imports to feed its growing alumina industry.
