Kazakhstan is set to start producing rare earths next year through a joint venture between state-owned uranium producer Kazatomprom and Japans Sumitomo, according to a press report.
In an interview with Kazatomproms director of strategic development, Sergey Dara, Dow Jones reported that the project would produce 1,500 tonnes of rare earth concentrate in 2012.
