Egypt “perfectly placed” to service global market; relatively unaffected by civil unrest

RPMinerals is not worried about a global recession or civil unrest, the company told IM. For this family-owned bentonite and barytes company in a strategic corner of Egypt, business is good and it is meeting increasing demand.

“The company has really evolved,” Frank Wright, head of international business development for the company, said.

“A lot of the growth that we have had — the biggest opportunity has been in the oilfield and we have the opportunity to become a very big player in this industry.”

The company started out as supplying bentonite for the oilfield. It was the first company in Egypt to produce bentonite in Egypt.
