Jerry Janik has been appointed general manager of Ontario Graphite’s Kearney graphite reactivation project in Canada. Janik has more than 20 years of mining industry experience, most recently in Texas, USA as area operations manager for Carmeuse Industrial Sand. He has also worked with Unimin Canada Ltd’s nepheline syenite operations.

What will be your chief objectives in your new role?

My short-term objective as the new general manger of Ontario Graphite is to work with my team towards reactivating the Kearney Mine and beginning production as soon as possible. One of our biggest advantages is that much of the infrastructure that we need is already in place and simply needs to be refurbished or updated.

We’re also taking the opportunity to improve efficiencies and eliminate bottlenecks that we observed from the mine’s past production. New equipment that’s more electrically efficient, improvements...
