The high purity quartz market has gained increasing momentum in recent months, where demand has been generated largely by a resurgent semiconductor market, and by growth in the electronics and solar industries.

In a market where high grade, high purity quartz (with an SiO2 content of a minimum of 99.997%), commands a typical price of approximately $5,000/tonne, interest is naturally spreading among the industry.

Sources have suggested, though, that those not strongly affiliated with the quartz market may have a poor grasp of what constitutes high purity quartz.
