Rare earths prices track lower, cerium 57% down from July highs

Ranges now tightening up; traders admit deals are at bottom end of the market

Rare earth prices have tracked lower this week, leaving some grades almost 60% below highs reached earlier this year.

Prices have been steadily falling since hitting highs in July as export demand has fallen off. End user markets are now actively looking into substitution and even with China’s largest rare earth producer suspending production, prices are falling.
