Talison reports 6.3% fall in Q2 sales on freight problems

Congested port blamed for slump; 2012 sales will not be affected, company says

Australia’s Talison Lithium reported a fall in sales in the three months to December 31 2011 (Q2 FY 2011), to 75,221 tonnes of concentrate (11,200 tonnes lithium carbonate equivalent).

 

This is a decrease of 6.3% from the previous quarter.

 

The world’s largest producer of hard-rock lithium attributed the downturn in sales to significant congestion at the Port of Bunbury, due to berth closures and unplanned port shutdowns....
