The price of ilmenite has more than tripled in the space of a year, major producer Kenmare Resources Plc disclosed in its fourth quarter operating statement.
The Ireland-based company, which operates a mine in Mozambique, said it had secured ilmenite sales contracts in a range of $300-400/tonne for the first half of 2012. This compares with prices of about $100/tonne at the start of 2011.
