The accelerated development of renewable energy will drive the demand for industrial minerals in the coming years, according Gilles Michel, CEO of Imerys SA.

Speaking at IM’s 21st Industrial Minerals International Congress & Exhibition in Budapest, last week, Michel explained the “green revolution” will generate specific product needs which utilise industrial minerals.

Michel said that by 2015, the capacity for installed wind energy will increase 80%, while global photovoltaic installations will increase roughly 70%.
