MIIT publishes list of compliant companies, over two years after first plans

The Chinese government announced its plans last week to begin strategically storing fluorspar resources, prompting some to speculate that this marks the beginning of consolidation of the industry.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) submitted a list of ten companies which it says comply with fluorspar entry conditions set out by the body. Any company which is not on this list, or the ones that precede it, will be forced out of China’s fluorspar mining industry.

Reports in China suggest that over 2,000 companies will be consolidated into approximately 20 companies. These will be overseen by Jiang Fulin, the secretary of the Fluorspar Commission of China Non-metallic Mineral Industry...
