Minsands major Tronox Ltd and titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer DuPont have hit back at Iluka Resources Ltd’s recent announcement on the stability of the minsands market.
“Recent comments regarding market demand for TiO2 in the second half of 2012 are not consistent with DuPont’s view and overstate the softness in the pigment industry,” president of DuPont Titanium Technologies, BC Chong, said.
Tronox, which mines TiO2 feedstocks and is a major TiO2 pigment producer, also hit back by saying that the company sees sales volume increases of 4% for rutile, ilmenite, and leucoxene for 2012.
