Poland to sell 85% of state-owned sulphur producer Siarkopol

India’s Archean Group of Companies is looking at acquiring state-owned Siarkopol SA in Poland, IM was told.

As a result of the Polish government’s general move to privatise its most important state-owned companies, the Ministry of Treasury decided to sell an 85%-stake of its 100%-owned Kopalnie i Zakłady Chemiczne Siarki (KIZCHS) Siarkopol SA.

Siarkopol, which exploits the Osiek mine in the Grzybow region in the central-south of the country, produces about 800,000 tpa sulphur. It is the only mine in the world where sulphur is extracted using the Frasch process,...
