It’s a slowdown — Chinese fluorspar production stutters

China’s fluorspar industry is slowing down, new data has revealed. China mined 4.2m tonnes of fluorspar ore and manufactured 1.86m tonnes of fluorspar products in the first six months of 2012, the China Non-metallic Mineral Industry Association revealed this month.

China’s fluorspar industry is slowing down, new data has revealed.

China mined 4.2m tonnes of fluorspar ore and manufactured 1.86m tonnes of fluorspar products in the first six months of 2012, the China Non-metallic Mineral Industry Association revealed this month.

Production slipped by 7.5%, compared with the corresponding period last year, Jiang Fulin, secretary of the Fluorspar Commission of China Non-metallic Mineral Industry Association, told delegates at a fluorspar conference in China in July

A total of 1.35m tonnes of fluorspar fine products were sold in H1 2012, Fulin said. This included stocks of 150,000 tonnes. Of that figure, 140,000 tonnes were marked for the export market, down 30% year-on-year. The domestic price has also fallen off in the first six months of the year, Fulin added.
