Southern Europe crude steel in chaos while Asia stays strong

Brazilian slide continues; world total production falls slightly to 127.9m tonnes

Crude steel production was weak across southern Europe for both June, and the first six months of 2012, while Asia remained strong, data from worldsteel (the World Steel Association) showed.

Brazil, the largest South American producer, continued its downward trend with a significant slide in output of 8.5% year-on-year for June 2012 and 2.5% year-on-year for H1 2012....
