Canadian-based miner Great Western Minerals Group Ltd (GWMG) has launched a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for its Steenkampskraal rare earth project in South Africa.

GWMG has contracted Snowden Mining Industry Consultants to complete the study for the project, which already has an NI43-101 report and resource calculation indicating the presence of 13,824 tonnes total rare earth oxides (TREO).

GeoMegA Resources Inc. has announced final assay results from its second phase of drilling at its Montviel rare earths and niobium project in Quebec.

The results indicated that the deposit contains between 1.64% and 3.2% TREO. The company also reported that it had intercepted mineralisation at 780 metres at the croissant-shaped resource.
