Titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer Tronox Inc.’s recent purchase of mineral sand producer Exxaro helped to immunise it from recent softness in titanium dioxide market, its Q2 results revealed.

The US-based company, which already produced feedstocks as well as TiO2 pigment, is now producing more feedstocks than it needs.

This enables the company to sell whichever of the high value feedstocks – such as chloride slag, ilmenite slag, natural rutile, or synthetic rutile – is strongest in the market and use the others for its pigment production, Tom Casey, CEO, outlined to investors.
