Company asks employees to return to work; calls for end to political point-scoring

Refractory bauxite producer BOSAI Minerals Group has made an official request for peace at the Guyanan town of Linden, where recent protests have left the company’s processing plant incapacitated for a month.

Norman McClean, company general secretary, has issued a statement asking BOSAI’s employees to return to work, and for local politicians to stop inflaming the unrest, according to a report in the Guyana Times.

“This is an appeal to our employees as well as to all stakeholders, including the government of Guyana, leader of the opposition, leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC), regional chairman, Region 10 and others for a period of peace and a return to work now,”...
