Northern Graphite to reduce cost/tonne with own mining fleet

Company’s cost/tonne to compete with Chinese producers; prices not a problem

Canadian mining junior Northern Graphite Corp. will produce 18,600 tonnes graphite concentrate at a cost of roughly $800/tonne from its Bissett Creek graphite property in south-eastern Ontario, Canada, CEO Greg Bowes told IM.

Northern Graphite released its full bankable feasibility study (BFS) that pegged the cost/tonne at $851/tonne but Bowes believes that this can be reduced.

“The BFS is based on using contracting mining. That is not uncommon and most people go that route because it reduces the upfront capital required (...) however, in terms of what we actually do, our preference is very much to go for owner mining,” he said.
