Policy makers and research bodies should adopt a business-eye view of critical minerals science, according to James Goddin, project manager for collaborative research and development at UK-based technology firm, Granta Design.
Speaking at the launch of the National Environment Research Councils (NERC) £7m ($10.8m*) funding initiative for the Security of Minerals Resources (SoS Minerals) in London today, Goddin said that the minerals science industry needed a standardised framework for evaluating issues of criticality.
We urge policy makers to look at things from a business perspective when labeling a mineral as critical and engineering a response to this, said Goddin, who was also speaking on behalf of the Aerospace Defence and Security Trade Organisation (ADS).
