South African chromite output drops 60% in January

January output fell below total sales for the month – a pattern which had not been seen since August last year, while sales saw an 18% drop on December.

Production of high-purity chromite in South Africa nosedived at the start of 2017, posting a drop of almost 60% year-on-year in January while sales for the month also decreased, latest data provided to IM shows.
