Chinese bauxite prices increase on raw material shortage

Reduced bauxite ore output in China has caused a supply shortage of raw material for the production of the calcined refractory mineral. This has pushed prices higher, as the ongoing anti-pollution measures are also supporting the market.

Spot calcined bauxite prices increased amid rising raw material cost and supply shortage due to mining restrictions in China.

The use of dynamite was severely curtailed in the mining industry throughout China on environmental grounds since early this year and domestic bauxite mined output were reduced as a result.
