The Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO) is a leading International collaborative research facilitator and provider of project management and information services to its members. MIRO manages research programmes on behalf of UK Government and the European Commission. Members comprise national and international mining, mineral and related industry companies.
Due to retirement MIRO wishes to appoint an Executive Director, initially on a part- time basis to lead the organisation. Reporting directly to MIRO Council, which is comprised of senior executives from member companies, the appointee will be responsible for new business identification and development, in addition to operational management of the existing business. The post represents an outstanding opportunity for an executive in a developing organisation that is engaged with a wide-range of private and public sector organisations in the UK and Mainland Europe.
The position will be available from January 2015.
Experience of national and international research funding programmes is required and knowledge of the mining, minerals and related sectors is essential. Executive level knowledge and experience should include - strategic business development, multi-disciplinary technical and RTD management, corporate marketing and business management.
It is anticipated that this role will appeal to candidates currently in senior managerial or executive positions with a minimum of twenty years experience in an industrial or operational environment. The post will involve national and international travel.

Graduate Trainee Reporter

Industrial Minerals, the authoritative source of non-metallic minerals intelligence from mine to market, seeks a graduate reporter or similar to join its editorial team. Market reporting, analysis and price discovery, with adherence to accuracy and deadlines, are core to the role.
The position is part of a small but busy editorial team dedicated to covering the global industrial minerals business and maintaining IMs long established reputation as the mouthpiece of the industry by delivering high quality content to a demanding clientele.
The ideal candidate will have a desire to be part of a dynamic team where reporting the latest information or analysing the impact of business results or innovative market developments are of interest. Equally, working closely as part of a tight-knit team sharing information and co-ordinating activities to ensure the appropriate market coverage to keep IM at the forefront of the industry, you will very quickly become a key player in the most respected business content for the industrial minerals market.
You will be unflappable in a crisis, have the ability to manage your time effectively and be up to speed with the latest in social media networking.
