Simon Moores, Deputy Editor IM

After reading Geology with Geography BSc at the University of Birmingham, UK, Simon joined Industrial Minerals (IM) in 2006. During his time at IM, Simon has become the journal’s editor of Strandlines (the news and analysis section on titanium and zircon related industries) and commentator on the lithium industry. In addition to attending worldwide conferences, Simon has chaired in-house events including the 19th International Industrial Minerals Congress (IM19), Athens, Greece, in 2008, the inagural Lithium Supply & Markets (LSM), Chile 2009 - see picture; and subsequent LSM 2010 in Las Vegas.

Simon has visited numerous mining operations worldwide including: Kümaş’ magnesite mine and refractory production plant in Kütahya, Turkey, S&B Industrial Minerals’ bentonite and perlite operations in Greece, Ashapura's array of mines in India, SQM and Chemetall's lithium brine operations in Chile, and Western Lithium's hectorite project in the USA.

Major market research pieces for IM include: lithium minerals, graphite, fuel cell mineral potential, TiO2 minerals, TiO2 pigment, India’s industrial minerals, Turkey's ceramics industry and South American mineral production.

IM responsibilities: Strandlines Editor, Feature research and writing, news and commentary writing, IM wallcharts.

Interests: A range of sports including football and rugby, rap music, travel.
